Durometers

Durometers are devices used to measure the hardness of materials, particularly polymers, elastomers, and rubbers. The hardness measured by a durometer indicates the material’s resistance to indentation. Durometers are commonly used in various industries to ensure material specifications are met for manufacturing processes, product quality control, and research and development.

There are different types of durometers, each designed for specific material hardness ranges and standards. The most common scales are:

Shore A: Used for softer materials like rubber, elastomers, and soft plastics.
Shore D: Used for harder materials like hard plastics and hard rubbers.
Shore OO: Used for very soft materials like foam and sponge.
